Herb & Essential Oil of the Month - Roses

The essential oil of Rose is said to bring solace to a heart broken by grief or remorse and to bring a feeling of well being.

Rose is a fabulous choice for emotional issues. It works on the heart chakra to harmonize the spirt to bring peace and happiness. Enjoy Rose in a warm bath or a massage oil.

The common red garden Rose has been a favorite plant in herbal medicine. It has a wide range of uses including: aiding digestion and menstrual problems, improving many skin complaints and strengthening the body against infection.

Pure Rose Essential Oil is one of the most difficult and expensive to produce. It's My Nature only sells Rose Essential Oil by special order. We do not keep it in stock due to the high expense.

Thank goodness dried Rose petals can easily be made into a useful Rose Water. It is wonderful for all kinds of skin care as it stimulates the skin, heightens blood flow, balances skin's Ph levels and helps tighten pores. It is great for all skin types, including sensitive, acne prone and aging skin.

Rose Water with its astringent, antiviral and antibacterial properties can also be used as a facial splash, mouthwash, gargle, throat spray and feminine douche. Use cotton ball to apply to face. Great around eyes to help with inflammation and soreness.

Besides these medicinal uses, try these fun Aromatherapy tips with Rose Water.
Use in a spritzer bottle when ironing, spray on sheets, pillow cases and in the air to add fragrance during romantic evenings. Spray on hair or dreadlocks to add a sultry scent and kill bacteria, use to moisten a clay mask. Rose Water is perfect in place of water in many aromatherapy and cosmetic recipes. Experiment - it's great fun!

With so many varieties of Roses available, if you ever have a problem or a question, you can call the American Rose Society at 1-800-637-6534 or visit their website at www.ars.org They can put you in touch with a Rose expert in your area.
